"There is no link, at this stage, between the various kidnapping complaints filed," Brussels prosecutor Denis Goeman, said on Monday.

In total seven attempts to abduct children have been reported in October, including one near a park in Neder-over-Heembeek on 14 October, another near a school in Schaerbeek on 10 October and another one in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre on 4 October.

“Investigations are currently underway to determine the facts and circumstances,” Goemans explained.

During the last few weeks, several people in the Brussels region have contacted police to file attempted child kidnapping reports. In particular in Schaerbeek, Woluwe-Saint Pierre and Neder-Over-Heembeek.

“Many people comment on social media on this topic, but I encourage people who have concerns or been direct witnesses to rather contact police, Goeman added.

According to La Capital, another child kidnapping attempt took place on Saturday in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert.

The incident took place on Clos des Peupliers at 12:30. A woman hiding between two cars attempted to snatch a boy aged 11 years-old. She tried to encourage him to join her to go to a shopping center.
