"Irpin Invicible" exhibition opened in Brussels Friday evening at the Ukrainian Civil Society Hub at the European Parliament's Station by Place du Luxembourg. The exhibition is also on throughout Saturday and depicts what life was like in the Ukrainian city during the Russian occupation of it.
"Irpin is a small but courageous city, with a strong spirit and strong-willed people, which, together with Butya and Gostomel, suffered the worst consequences of the Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital," said mayor of Irpin Oleksandr Markushyn at the opening of the exhibition.
"We resisted and stopped the attack on Kiev, but we paid a very high price: 70% of the city was destroyed or badly damaged. (...) Irpin needs to be rebuilt and we are determined to do that. This exhibition in Brussels is a message to the world: this is what happens when Russia enters your territory."
Further to this, the exhibition reveals what the city at the outskirts of Kiev looked like before the bombings and after the withdrawal of the Russian army.
