Belgian pop singer Stromae has been nominated for an MTV Music Award under the “Video For Good” category for this song “Fils de Joie” (Sons of Joy), according to French regional newspaper La Voix de La Nord. Stromae’s new song from the album Multitude deals with the topic of prostitution.

In order to win the famed prize, Stromae will have to win out against fellow nominees Kendrick Lamar (The Heart Part 5), Latto (P*SSY), Lizzo (About Damn Time), and Rina Sawayama (This Hell).

Filming of the Belgian’s music video took place at Brussels’ iconic Monument du Cinquantenaire and portrays a fictional country where the state holds a funeral for a missing sex worker.

The song is an emotional song accompanied by harpsichord and a string quartet, inspired by listening to the testimonies of real prostitutes and their children on the set of French TV programme “ Ça commence aujourd’hui” (It starts today).
