A 74-year-old resident of Zerkegem (West Flanders) has been detained on murder charges, according to the Bruges Division of the West Flanders Public Prosecution Service.
The suspect's wife, also 74, died violently in their home on 12 April. Initially, the circumstances surrounding her death were unclear.
The husband was presented to the investigating judge one week after the incident occurred. The judge made the decision to issue a warrant for his arrest on murder charges.
The Bruges Council Chamber will decide tomorrow whether to continue his detention or not.
