An investigation has been opened after three police officers patrolling the border with the Netherlands were caught barbecuing and drunk on the job by a passing driver.
The federal police officers were carrying out checks on non-essential movements between Belgium and the Netherlands on Sunday when one driver they inspected noticed barbecue smoke and wine bottles.

The driver contacted the local police of Wuustwezel, who came to the scene and had the three federal officers take a blood alcohol level (BAC) test, Het Nieuwsblad reports.
The Wuustwezel officers said all three federal agents had been drinking and that one of them behaved rebelliously during the controls.
The federal police did not disclose the amounts of alcohol found in the agent's blood but spokesperson Sarah Frederickx said it was "too much" and that the incident was "unacceptable."
Sent to provide back up for the enforcement of border restrictions during the lockdown, the three officers reportedly have more than twenty years of experience in the service.
"An internal disciplinary investigation has been opened," Frederickx said. "If it turns out that the facts are confirmed, then this is unacceptable."
