On Friday, the Liège Criminal Court sentenced a 61-year-old man to 15 years in prison for rape and voyeurism, among other offences. One of the victims was his own daughter, who was a minor at the time of the offences.
In total, the man had to answer for 17 different charges. These included rape, sexual assault, incitement to indecency, producing nude images of minors, sexual aggression and voyeurism. The offences took place over a period of 21 years.
One of the victims was the defendant's own daughter. He raped her throughout her childhood, until she was 17. The man also raped a friend of hers and was guilty of voyeurism towards another friend who had fallen asleep.
The man worked as an amateur photographer, often working with young women and girls, whom he also victimised. For example, he asked 11- to 13-year-olds to pose in lingerie or revealing clothing. Some of the offences were only reported to the police years after they had taken place.
The defendant has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. He must also remain at the disposal of the criminal court for ten years.
