Mother saved from flames in Charleroi house fire

A mother was rescued from a house fire on Rue des Carrières in Couillet, in Charleroi, in the early hours of Tuesday, according to firefighters from the Hainaut-Est emergency zone.

She was found unconscious at the back of the house. Her son escaped by jumping from the first floor, resulting in a broken ankle.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 02:00 after a fire broke out in the house. At the time of the incident, two people were inside the property.

According to firefighters, the young occupant fled the flames by jumping out of the first floor. He suffered a broken ankle in the process.

The mother was discovered on the ground floor at the back of the house. "Her life was in danger, but she was breathing spontaneously. A dog was also found later," stated the Hainaut-Est emergency services, who praised the firefighters’ decisive role in the rescue.
