Union actions took place on Saturday morning at four Lidl supermarkets in Wallonia, according to a company spokesperson. These are limited actions where stores are briefly blocked without resulting in closures.

The discount supermarket chain has been experiencing social unrest for several weeks. Unions are protesting mainly over excessive workloads and understaffing issues. Lidl’s management regrets these actions, stating that social dialogue is ongoing.

Several actions have already been staged in recent days, including temporary blockades of warehouses and stores.

A national discussion took place last Tuesday but did not result in a compromise between management and unions. Potential solutions are still being sought at the regional level.
