The Royal Meteorological Institute has issued a yellow weather warning for heat in eastern Belgium on Sunday afternoon, with temperatures expected to reach 32°C or higher in the provinces of Limburg, Liège, and Luxembourg.

The central part of the country will experience temporarily very cloudy skies with a few showers and a localised risk of thunderstorms. These clouds and showers will then move eastward, although it will initially remain quite sunny there. In the west, widespread clear spells will return from the coast. Maximum temperatures will range from 23-24°C at the seaside, 27-29°C in the central areas, and 30-33°C in the east and northeast. The wind will be moderate, occasionally quite strong at sea, blowing from the west to southwest.

On Sunday night, the eastern regions will remain fairly cloudy with the possibility of some showers and a thunderstorm. Widespread clear spells will spread to other regions from Flanders. Minimum temperatures will range from 14°C in the Ardennes to 16-18°C in lower and middle Belgium.

Monday morning will be quite cloudy with some showers moving from west to centre of the country. South of the Sambre and Meuse valley, it will stay dry with even some sunny spells over the Gaume. In the afternoon, the showers will shift eastward while weakening, and clear spells will arrive from the coast. Maximum temperatures will noticeably drop, reaching only 19-20°C in the high Ardennes or at the sea, and 22-23°C in lowland areas.

The wind will be moderate to occasionally quite strong, especially at sea. Gusts could reach 50-60 km/h.
