Kevin De Bruyne has officially joined Italian champions Napoli, just over a month after signing on 12 June, and was introduced to the media on Saturday.
De Bruyne, 34, expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “I think it’s the right place. They were champions last year and showed a lot of quality. It’s very different from what I had in England, but it’s also very exciting.”
The Belgian international explained that his decision was well-considered: “I still feel motivated and believe I have the quality to contribute at this level. The weather is obviously different from England (laughs). The most important reason for me was to keep playing at the highest level.”
After a decade at Manchester City, where he won all major trophies, De Bruyne is adjusting to life in Campania. “The team aims to do well in all competitions—league, Champions League, and cup. Now I have to adapt and understand how the team functions, as it’s very different from what I was used to. Serie A is a highly competitive league with many good teams. I’m eager to play, but I’ve only been here a week and need more time to settle in.”
