In 2024, 39,743 individuals in Belgium reported earning income through online service platforms such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Ring Twice.
This marks a 14% increase compared to the 2023 tax year, according to data from Belgium’s Federal Public Service Finance shared by L’Echo on Friday.
Altogether, more than €71 million in earnings from these gig economy platforms were declared last year, reflecting a 32% rise from the previous year.
The slower growth in the number of people earning such income compared to the overall revenue increase suggests individual earnings have climbed.
The average amount declared per person rose from €1,540 in 2023 to €1,787 in 2024, an increase of 16%.
