No evidence of terrorism has been found in the investigation of a stabbing incident on a UK train, the British Transport Police confirmed on Sunday afternoon.
The attack left 11 people injured, with two still in critical condition, according to a spokesperson.
Initially, authorities reported ten injuries, as ten victims were taken to hospital. Later, an eleventh person came forward seeking medical attention. While nine of the victims were listed as in critical condition on Saturday evening, some have since been discharged from hospital.
Two men, aged 32 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, chief inspector John Lovelace announced.
The train was travelling from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, having departed at 18:25 local time. The stabbing occurred shortly after the train left Peterborough station in Cambridgeshire.
The train was stopped in Huntingdon, also in Cambridgeshire, and local police received an emergency call at 19:39.
