Disruptions continued on Saturday across the Letec transport network, marking the sixth consecutive day of a drivers’ strike that began on Monday.

Many depots remain blocked due to the strike, which is being led by a coalition of union organisations.

The unions are protesting against cost-cutting measures proposed by the Walloon government for the Transport Operator of Wallonia (OTW), which oversees Letec.

They argue that these measures undermine concessions won years ago, granted in place of pay rises, and accuse officials of trying to save money “on the backs of workers.”

In the Liège-Verviers area, Letec reported on Saturday that over 80 of its 122 bus routes were suspended. Three routes faced disruptions, while 35 were operating as usual.

No updated information was available from other regions of the Letec network by 10:00 on Saturday. However, announcements stated that “significant disruptions are expected this weekend and next week.”

The strike is set to continue until at least Thursday in Liège-Verviers, Charleroi, Hainaut, and Walloon Brabant. Talks between union representatives and OTW management are scheduled for that day.
