Belgium’s threat assessment body said on Sunday there is no indication of any specific threat to the country following the deadly attack on Berlin Pride on Saturday evening.
The Coordination Unit for Threat Analysis, known by its French acronym OCAM, said it is assessing the possible impact of the Berlin attack on the threat level in Belgium, as it does after incidents of this kind.
At this stage, however, the agency said there is no sign that the threat situation in Belgium has changed.
Several events for the LGBTQ community are due to take place in Belgium in the coming weeks, including gatherings in Antwerp at the start of August.
OCAM said information related to the Berlin attack will be included in its targeted assessments carried out shortly before such events.
The National Crisis Centre also said no new security measures are currently planned in Belgium.
However, alongside OCAM’s continuing assessment, the centre has called on security services to remain especially vigilant.
The attack on Berlin Pride left one person dead and 29 injured.
