Minor stabbed in lung and abdomen in Hainaut

A minor was stabbed in the lung and abdomen by another minor on Tuesday evening during an event for young people organised in Thimeon by the Horizon Guides of Gosselies, said the Charleroi Public Prosecutor’s Office, confirming information from Sudinfo.

The victim’s life is no longer in danger. The alleged perpetrator of the attack will be presented Thursday before a juvenile judge, as reported by the Belga News Agency.

The attack took place on Tuesday evening at the Cercle Saint-Louis room on rue Abbé Offlain in Thiméon (Pont-à-Celles, province of Hainaut). For some unknown reason, a minor was stabbed outside the venue by another minor.

“Two groups gathered outside. A knife was exhibited by one of the young people, a minor. He struck another boy, also a minor, in the abdomen and lungs,” the Charleroi Public Prosecutor's Office told Sudinfo.

During the intervention of the emergency services, the state of health of the victim was considered worrying. The life of the victim is no longer in danger, the judicial authorities have confirmed. The alleged perpetrator of the attack was deprived of his liberty.

“He was still heard on Wednesday and he will be presented to a youth judge on Thursday for placement in IPPJ," according to the office.
