Belgian employees took the same number of days off as before the epidemic in the first eight months of 2022, according to research done by Acerta, the HR services company.

Acerta stated on Thursday that 6.5% of Belgians' working hours were days off or taken for holidays, 0.1% less than in 2019 (6.6%).

Inevitably, this reflects a rise over previous years, since the percentages for the first eight months of the year in 2020 and 2021 stood at 6.4% and 6.2%, respectively.

For Acerta, the past low numbers made sense as Covid-19 caused many Belgians to become temporarily unemployed in 2020 and 2021, as well as limiting the number of holiday destinations due to various sanitary restrictions.

In 2022, however, there has been a significant increase in interest in vacations and days off, with Acerta projecting that Belgians' number of days off will soon get back to normal.
