Brussels Airport has announced a second direct flight to China as Hainan Airlines will fly a new route to the city of Shenzhen.

Direct connections between the world's major cities and Belgium's principal airport continue to be ramped up following the end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The flight, which will be run by Chinese carrier Hainan Airlines to and from the southeastern city of Shenzhen, near Hong Kong, is expected to run twice per week from 21 June this year.

"Big news from China!" Brussels Airport announced on Twitter on Wednesday.

"Starting 21 June, @HainanAirlines will connect #brusselsairport to Shenzhen with two flights a week on Wednesdays and Sundays! We are very excited with this addition to our long-haul flight network and second direct connection to China."

The Brussels-Shenzhen connection was first introduced back in 2018, but was suspended in February 2020 following the pandemic's outbreak.

Hainan Airlines also currently offers nonstop daily flights between Brussels and Beijing.
