A man was the target of two gunshots outside the La Brise café on Rue Neuve in Charleroi at around 04:00 on Monday morning, according to information from Sudinfo confirmed by the Charleroi Public Prosecutor's Office.
The man sustained two gunshots in the thigh and foot. His life is not in danger.
The victim – who was residing irregularly in Belgium – fled towards the front of the Le Gringo café, where he was rescued by customers. He was subsequently attended to by paramedics.
Charleroi's local police closed Rue Neuve and arrested several undocumented residents, according to Sudinfo.
The victim is due to be interviewed on Monday by the Charleroi Public Prosecutor's Office. At this stage, the suspect is still unknown. The attempted murder charge has been referred to an examining magistrate.
