Following the detention of a suspect in Rotterdam last Wednesday for the fatal shooting in Anderlecht on 5 June, a second suspect has been apprehended in Belgium, the prosecutor confirmed on Monday.

On the day of the shooting, gunfire erupted just after 9:00 at the Plum’Art store parking lot on Avenue Sylvain Dupuis in Anderlecht. The shooter, on foot, targeted a 49-year-old male victim. After the attack, the gunman jumped onto the scooter of an accomplice, who was waiting nearby, and both fled towards the centre of Anderlecht.

Investigation led to one suspect being traced to the Netherlands. Last Wednesday, the Dutch Special Intervention Unit arrested the man in a hotel in Rotterdam using a European Arrest Warrant. The Brussels prosecutor’s office has requested his extradition.

Now, the investigation has led to the apprehension of a second suspect. The Brussels prosecutor’s office confirmed the arrest but has not provided further details.
