The weekend storms blowing through Belgium caused an estimated €50,000 worth of damage to the Mini-Europe Park in Brussels, leaving doubt as to whether repairs can be completed before the scheduled seasonal opening at the end of March.

"On Friday, the tower of the Brussels town hall of the Grand-Place was swept away and yesterday the town hall of Leuven collapsed due to the storms," Thierry Meeùs, director of Mini-Europe, said, as reported by Belga News Agency.

Located at the foot of Brussels landmark Atomium, Mini-Europe includes 350 buildings and monuments, reproduced at 1/25 scale, representing Europe's most famous landmarks. Bonsais, flowering groves and dwarf trees surround the models. The storm damage is the worst suffered by the park.

Luckily, the park's larger models, such as Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower, were not damaged. However, park officials determined the storm threat was significant enough to evacuate as many smaller parts and figures as possible.
