On the rooftop of the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, the 'Solar' terrace will be open to the public from Friday.
Opening the rooftop terrace to the general public was the wish of the centre's architect Victor Horta, who included it in his original plans for the building.
"Two years ago, we already contacted Bozar about opening this roof terrace," Miguel Perez of Les Organisateurs, the manager of Solar, told Het Nieuwsblad. "It will become an indispensable new hotspot with a magnificent view over Brussels and the Royal Palace."
The renovation of the roof of the Palace of Fine Arts was completed in 2021 and transformed the flat roofs on the side of Rue Ravenstein and Rue Baron Horta into a terrace of 330 m². From Friday, they will be accessible to everyone, as the roof terrace will be opened to the general public, free of charge and without reservation.

The aim was to create "a tropical atmosphere with lots of green accents," said Perez. "We are here in the heart of Brussels and want to create a place where people can escape the hectic pace of the city for a while.”
The roof terrace is open every day from 12:00 to 23:00. “A total of 180 people can be there at the same time. The roof terrace will be open until 30 September. After that, we will see if there will be another summer season."
