Fire breaks out overnight in Forest

The Brussels Fire Brigade was called to a fire at a two-storey building in Forest on Monday evening. The fire resulted in a man being burnt and suffering a heart attack.

Around 00:30, firefighters received a call from a nearby Audi factory's security agents, informing them that a fire had broken out at a house on Square Emile des Grées du Loû.

The fire broke out on the second floor of the building, but the fire department safely evacuated all residents on the first and second floors.

However, a man in his sixties suffered a cardiac arrest on the first floor. He was first safely evacuated but witnesses have stated that he had returned to his home for a yet unknown reason.

He had to be transferred to the hospital as he was also burned in the process. His injuries are reported to be severe.

The Brussels Fire Brigade has since confirmed that the fire's origin was accidental and that the upper floors of the house have now been rendered uninhabitable.
