In the investigation into the fatal shooting of a young man in the passenger seat of a car in the Brussels municipality of Molenbeek on 18 April, the suspected perpetrator was arrested on Wednesday 1 June.
On Monday 18 April 2022, at around 20:40, a man (20) was shot dead in the passenger seat of a vehicle in Rue Dubois-Thorn in Molenbeek. The Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation for manslaughter and put the Federal Police's Homicide Division in charge of the case.
The investigating judge and the Public Prosecutor's Office came to the scene, as did a medical examiner, a ballistics expert and the Federal Police's laboratory. This led to the identification of the suspected culprit, and an arrest warrant was issued.

"On Wednesday 1 June 2022, the suspect was arrested in Molenbeek, while he was a passenger in a taxi that was being checked for reckless driving," said Martin François of the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.
The man was arrested, questioned by the police and handed over to the investigating judge, who questioned him again on Thursday. "He was charged with manslaughter and placed under arrest," he said.
As the investigation to find out the exact circumstances of the facts is still ongoing, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office will not comment on the case further.
