A woman (30) from the city of Wavre (Walloon Brabant) turned herself in to the police on Sunday afternoon for a fatal hit-and-run accident in the municipality of Tervuren, just outside of Brussels, earlier that day.

On Sunday morning, a 48-year-old woman was found dead on the Avenue de Tervueren. Later on Sunday a woman turned herself in to police. She was subsequently arrested, the Leuven Public Prosecutor's Office confirmed to VRT.

The woman explained that she felt an impact when driving home, shattering the windshield of her vehicle, but was under the impression that a branch had fallen on her vehicle or that she had hit a deer.

However, when she heard that a fatal traffic accident had happened at that location, she immediately went to the police.
