Nearly one company in two in Belgium does not use salary optimisation solutions

Close to half of all businesses in Belgium fail to fully utilise salary optimisation solutions, according to human resources service provider Partena Professional.

These solutions include various forms of cheques, premiums, bonuses, and fringe benefits that can significantly reduce an employer’s social security contributions compared to the amounts processed through gross wages.

More than half (54%) of the organisations with fewer than 50 workers admitted they didn’t explore these opportunities, along with 42% of larger companies.

“Ignoring this issue amidst continuing economic challenges equates to overlooking valuable potential, impacting not just wage costs but also company financial performance,” Yves Stox, consultant at Partena explains. “The art of maximising these advantages benefits employees and also ensures control of company expenditure, thus creating a virtuous cycle of shared prosperity.”

Most common benefits offered by Belgian employers include meal vouchers (72.2%), eco cheques (56.2%), and computer equipment (52.8%). With respect to premiums, nearly one in two companies (48.8%) offer a flat-rate professional expense allowance, while over a third (35.1%) offer remote work allowances.

Conversely, 52.8% of companies do not offer any form of bonus (performance bonus, collective salary bonus, warrants), and only 22.1% of the surveyed firms offer mobility budgets.

This survey was based on interviews of approximately 300 business managers across various economic sectors.
