Belgian branches of low-cost supermarket giant Aldi are experiencing a lack of goods due to technical problems with its suppliers, Le Soir reports. As a result, many shelves across the country are bare.

Coffee stocks in particular have been depleted: “Some types of coffee are not supplied at the moment. Due to technical problems with our supplier, we are not receiving the requested quantities of certain demanded products,” an Aldi spokesperson confirmed.

The supermarket chain expects the situation to return to normal by mid-February.

Prices at low-cost supermarkets rose the sharpest in Belgium last year by an average of 13.09% at Lidl and 13.99% at Aldi. Delhaize enjoyed the lowest increase in price at 4.66%.
