European stock markets optimistic amid deconfinement measures

The Paris, Frankfurt and London stock exchanges were up sharply on Monday morning as containment measures loosen across Europe and oil prices rise.

The Paris stock market started at +1.95%, with the CAC 40 index gaining 83.4 points to 4,361.03 at 09:00. On Friday, it finished on a slight jump of 0.11% to 4,277.63 points.

The Frankfurt Stock Exchange also opened higher on Monday, with the Dax gaining 2.30%.

The London Stock Exchange's FTSE-100 index rose 1.93% to 5,911.65 points around 7:45 AM GMT (9:45 AM Belgian time).

The price of crude oil also rose sharply on Monday. The price of a barrel of American WTI crude rose by 5.61% to $31.08 (approximately €28.76) around 8:35 AM Belgian time, while the price of a barrel of North Sea Brent crude rose by 4.06% to $33.82 (approximately €31.30).
