Stella Kyriakides, European Health Commissioner, announced on Monday that the Commission has obtained 54,530 doses of the Danish manufacturer Bavarian Nordic's third-generation monkeypox vaccine.

Following an initial purchase of EU vaccines in late June, Member States currently hold a total of more than 160,000 doses.

The Commissioner also indicated that the number of cases in the EU had surpassed 7,000, representing an almost 50% rise from the previous week.
