The grave of the former French far-right leader Jean-Marie Le Pen was vandalised with a sledgehammer overnight on Thursday, according to France 3 Bretagne.
A local resident of La Trinité-sur-Mer (Brittany) confirmed the incident to the French news outlet on Friday.
The act of vandalism occurred three weeks after the funeral of the founder of the French far-right National Front party (renamed National Rally in 2018).
Le Pen's granddaughter, Marion Marechal, took it to X to address the incident. "You destroyed the tomb of our ancestors. Perhaps you think you'll break our hearts, intimidate us, discourage us? But our response will be to fight you even harder, generation after generation," she wrote.
