Ravers are gradually leaving the site of an unauthorised rave in Frasnes-lez-Anvaing, Hainaut, according to Celles mayor Michaël Busine on Sunday afternoon.

The rave began on Friday evening at the Domaine de Jaurieu in Arc-Wattripont, near Tournai. This is the third time such an event has been held at the location.

During the night between Saturday and Sunday, nearly 1,000 attendees were present on the property, which lies on the border between Celles and Frasnes-lez-Anvaing. Authorities requested that the site be cleared by Sunday afternoon.

Revellers began to leave on Sunday morning, and as of 11:30, an estimated 300 to 400 people remained, noted the mayor. Police were on-site, focusing on securing the area surrounding the domain.

No major incidents have been reported, but four ambulances were called to tend to injuries. “The site is not suitable for such events,” said Mr Busine.

Next week, the mayors of the affected municipalities will meet to discuss future security measures for the abandoned site and how to prevent similar events from occurring again.
