A bus from transport company De Lijn leaked fuel on Parklaan in Forest on Sunday morning after hitting a high curb, rupturing both of its fuel tanks.
Approximately 200 litres of diesel spilled onto the road between Koningslaan and Bosniëstraat, leaving the roadway extremely slippery.
Brussels firefighters responded with a command vehicle and two tankers equipped with spray systems to clean the road and restore safety. They used over 10,000 litres of water and two bags of degreasing agent during the operation, according to fire department spokesperson Walter Derieuw.
Police from the Brussels-South zone set up a safety perimeter and redirected traffic while the clean-up took place. The response concluded at around 13:30, and no injuries were reported.
