The Brussels public prosecutor’s office seized and confiscated a total of €125 million in criminal assets in 2025, according to its annual report presented on Friday.

Public prosecutor Julien Moinil has set a target to increase this figure to €1 billion by the end of his term.

A significant part of this effort is carried out by the newly established ACP division, which focuses exclusively on the confiscation of criminal assets.

The ACP division, which stands for “Avoir Criminels et Patrimoine” or criminal assets and property, was created in May 2025.

Previously, investigations into criminal assets were conducted alongside inquiries into the crimes that generated them. However, due to limited resources, prosecutors prioritised addressing the core crimes over targeting illicit gains.

The ACP division aims to disrupt criminal organisations by targeting their financial assets. Since its launch, it has already recovered €20 million.

The confiscated funds are transferred to the Treasury rather than remaining within the Central Seizure and Confiscation Office, the prosecutor’s office stated.
