About 500 French-speaking teachers demonstrated on Friday morning in front of the Parliament of the French-speaking Community in Brussels.

The location was no coincidence, as a debate on the government's austerity plans took place inside.

The protest campaign has run for a week and will continue into next week.

The government of MR and Les Engagés wants to reduce the budget deficit from €1.7 billion to €1.2 billion, including through cuts in the education sector.
