The Brussels Fire Brigade was called to a pile-up involving three motorists in the Brussels municipality of Haren at around 14:10 on Friday.
While the circumstances are still being investigated, three cars were involved in an accident on the Avenue de Vilvorde.
One car travelling towards Brussels crossed to the other side of the road and ended up on its roof before colliding; another vehicle was travelling towards Vilvoorde.
A third car, occupied by a woman and her child, was unable to avoid the accident and collided with one of the other vehicles.

When the fire department and ambulance arrived, one of the occupants needed to be extricated immediately due to breathing difficulties.
The other occupant had to be evacuated with a trauma kit in order to avoid any injuries to their head, neck, and torso.
The woman and her child voluntarily went to the hospital though neither sustained life-threatening injuries.
