The passenger, whose identity was not disclosed but who is said to be in his twenties, was released after police said there were no elements to indicate he played an active role during the deadly incident, according to Le Soir.

In the early hours of Tuesday, a 29-year-old French national sparked a police car chase after he refused to submit to a check and sped away. He was shot by police after he lurched his vehicle at an approaching officer when he was caught up with.
