Rain is expected to move into Belgium from the French border on Saturday afternoon, according to forecasts by the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM).
The showers, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms, will first impact the west and centre of the country before spreading to the south of the Sambre and Meuse valley later in the afternoon. A brief period of drier weather is expected to follow. Highs will range between 21°C and 25°C, with moderate winds from the south to southwest.
On Saturday evening, light rain is still anticipated in the south, while the rest of the country will experience temporarily dry conditions with some clear spells. Later in the evening, new rain showers will move in from the coast, which could be locally intense and stormy. Dry weather with clearing skies will return to the west and centre overnight. Temperatures will drop to between 12°C and 15°C.
Sunday will bring very cloudy conditions to the south of the Sambre and Meuse valley, with rain or showers continuing until midday. Elsewhere, the weather will be more variable, with the chance of isolated showers in the afternoon. It will feel noticeably cooler, with highs between 13°C and 17°C.
Sunday evening may see a few lingering local showers in the south, but the weather will gradually turn dry across the country with expanded clear skies. However, during the night, some showers from the North Sea are expected to reach the coast and northwest. Lows will range from 6°C in the Ardennes to 13°C along the coast.
