Much like her would-be suitor in 'Champagne Problems', Pop megastar Taylor Swift left hundreds of thousands of her Belgian fans crestfallen on Tuesday when she announced that her 'Eras' world tour would not include a stopover in Brussels.
Contacted by Het Laastse Nieuws, Swift's concert organiser Greenhouse Talent claimed that the 33-year-old American failed to schedule a performance in Europe's capital city due to concerns over "noise pollution".
"Because of production reasons, she is only coming to Amsterdam," Greenhouse Talent said. "The stage had to be on the short side and that is not possible in Brussels because of noise pollution for the neighbourhood."
The European leg of Swift's tour will kick off in Paris next year on 9 May, and will also feature two performances in Amsterdam in early July. The singer of 'All Too Well', 'Love Story' and 'Last Kiss' will also play in Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands during the summer of 2024.
Swift's last concert in Belgium was in 2011, when she performed at Forest National. It is Swift's only Belgian show to-date, after a scheduled concert at Rock Werchter in 2020 was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic – a traumatic episode, no doubt. One only hopes that, in time, Belgian Swifties be able to shake it off.
