The City of Brussels finally opened the long-awaited restaurant in Brucity on Thursday. It is located one floor under the largest rooftop in Europe, on which a bar opened last summer.

The administrative staff of the central municipality moved from its former offices on Place de Brouckère to a new flagship location named Brucity at the end of 2022, located on the former Car Park 58 near Place de la Bourse. The City opened up its rooftop to the public in the summer, with a pop-up bar by 58 Rooftop serving drinks on the ninth floor of the colossal building.

The rooftop offers a 360° view across Brussels, from the Basilica and the Atomium in the north to Mont des Arts, the Grand Place and Palais de Justice in the centre. The downside was that it was only opened to the public during the summer months.

However, from today (7 March), the long-awaited indoor panoramic restaurant will be opened on the eighth floor of the building, where 58 Rooftop will be open all year round offering the same spectacular views of Brussels, but with drinks and food too.

"With the opening of 58 Rooftop and the space on the eighth floor, Brucity is now a place of relaxation and tasting, with one of the most beautiful views of the capital," said Brussels Mayor Philippe Close. "The building is an example of multi-functionality. The employees of Brucity and the people of Brussels have all the more reason to spend time here."

At lunchtime, the restaurant serves as a canteen for Brucity staff. In the evening, it opens to 170 locals and tourists who will be seated on the adjacent panoramic terrace by the bar. The bar aims to exude "a sophisticated New York atmosphere", with its soft sofas and long tables. "Sharing food" is at the heart of the menu.

The restaurant will be open from Wednesday to Saturday from 18:00 to 01:00. At a later date, the rooftop terrace will also offer brunches on Sundays.
