Donald Trump has warned Nigeria of possible military action if it fails to stop what he describes as “the killing of Christians” by “Islamist terrorists.”
The former US president issued the statement on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Saturday. “If the Nigerian government continues to tolerate the killing of Christians, the United States will immediately halt all aid to Nigeria,” Trump said.
He added that the US might intervene militarily to “completely eliminate the Islamist terrorists committing these horrific atrocities.” Trump further announced he had instructed the Department of Defence to prepare for potential action.
Nigerian authorities have denied allegations of Christian persecution in the country.
