A wildfire that broke out on Monday in the Boschhuizerbergen nature reserve in the Dutch province of Limburg has flared up again, prompting a fresh emergency response.
The regional safety authority said the fire brigade immediately deployed several units to stop the blaze from spreading. The first crews have already begun tackling the fire.
On Wednesday afternoon, officials said the fire was under control, although firefighters continued to monitor the area closely. Throughout the evening and overnight, crews worked to extinguish the flames and cool the ground to prevent the fire from reigniting.
A spokesperson for the safety authority said the flare-up involves a small patch of land that had already burned earlier this week. “The flames have flared up there again,” the spokesperson said. “We are now doing everything we can to ensure this fire cannot spread any further.”
