Shots were fired at a police station on Rue Démosthène in Anderlecht on Friday night, leaving bullet marks on the building but causing no injuries.

Brussels-Midi police, which covers Anderlecht, Saint-Gilles and Forest, confirmed the shooting on Saturday.

Police were called to Rue Démosthène at about 23:40 on Friday after reports of gunfire. According to the first findings, two suspects then fled on an e-scooter.

The Brussels public prosecutor’s office attended the scene with a forensic expert and the federal police laboratory to carry out the necessary examinations.

Police said they were not releasing any further information for the time being because of the ongoing investigation.

The station was closed to the public when the shooting happened. Most of its services have already been moved to the Brussels-Midi police zone’s new headquarters.

However, some departments still use the building on Rue Démosthène. On Saturday morning, police could not say whether any officers had been inside at the time of the shooting.

The new Brussels-Midi police headquarters, near Brussels-South railway station, was inaugurated in December 2025. It brings together the zone’s intervention, control and administrative services.
