A wolf was fatally struck by a car early on Thursday morning on the N76 in Meeuwen (Oudsbergen) in Limburg province.

The collision occurred shortly before 06:45 near a wildlife crossing.

The animal’s body was taken to the Opglabeek animal shelter in Oudsbergen.

This is not the first collision involving a wolf in the area this year. On 5 February, a young female wolf was also hit near the same crossing.

An autopsy will be conducted on the wolf killed on Thursday morning.
