Kinepolis has urged film fans to buy tickets for the blockbuster 'The Odyssey' in IMAX format only through its official website, warning that fake tickets and heavily marked-up resales are circulating online.
Tickets for the IMAX 70 mm screenings are in very short supply, according to Kinepolis spokesperson Anneleen Van Troos. She said extra screenings have been added up to 22 September, but are already almost fully booked.
Kinepolis Brussels is the only cinema in the Benelux where audiences can watch 'The Odyssey' in IMAX 70 mm, making tickets especially sought after.
Van Troos said fake tickets are currently in circulation, while some genuine tickets are being resold at much higher prices. She said the company had placed a warning on its website and urged customers to be cautious.
Kinepolis also noted that making a profit from reselling its tickets is prohibited by law. The company says it reserves the right to cancel tickets if they are resold for profit in breach of its sales terms and conditions.
Reselling a ticket at its original price is still permitted. At Kinepolis' request, resale platform TicketSwap has now introduced a price cap.
