International football's leading body FIFA updated its World Rankings based on the national teams' results on Thursday. For the second year in a row, Belgium's Red Devils are ranked in fourth place.
Having tasted first place in the rankings for many years, Belgium will once again have to contend with filing out the top four. Despite impressive performances under new head coach Domenico Tedesco, they have not moved in the updated ranking.
With back-to-back debut victories over Sweden and Germany, Tedesco has done well to boost the Red Devils' international performance standing, which tumbled following a disappointing showing at last year's World Cup.
This year's rankings also welcomed a new leader. World champions Argentina surpassed their continental rivals Brazil, landing in the top position.
While Belgium went out at the competition's group stages, Argentina, spearheaded by Lionel Messi, went on to lift their third World Cup in December, which has also helped put them at the top of the FIFA World Rankings.

Occupying the top spot in the rankings for the first time since 2017, the Albiceleste pipped Brazil who fell to third place following a defeat to Morocco.
Meanwhile, France ranked in second place in the 2023 list of national teams, while the top five is completed by England. While the 'Three Lions' made it to the quarter-final, their Qatar campaign ended after the team suffered a 2-1 quarter-final loss to France.
